We have a 1-day weaving wānanga for Wairewa whānau aged 10-30 years.
You’ll learn about harakeke, learn weaving techniques, and create your own pieces to take home!

Wairewa Constitution Hui
We’ll be holding a hui to discuss the proposed amendments to our Constitution.
Thursday 14 May

This hui is an opportunity to go through the amendments together, and ensure everyone has a clear understanding of what’s being proposed ahead of any formal decisions.
Please note — this hui will focus on the amendments already submitted. No new amendments will be introduced or accepted at this hui.

Wairewa Projects Hui
We've got a hands-on Projects Hui all about seed saving!
Join us for a practical workshop with Harry & Merf, who will guide us through how to collect seeds for veges, prepare them for storage, and replant for future growing. This is a great chance to build knowledge and skills you can take home and use in your own māra.
Kaumātua Catch Up
After our awesome reconnection weekend it was decided to form a Kaumātua Kāhui to tautoko pōwhiri, tangi and Rūnanga events....come and learn some waiata! We will also discuss Emergency preparedness, Winter wellness and our year ahead! We will plan until Xmas and everyone will leave with a plan/calendar.

NIWA Wrap up Hui
We're hosting the wrap-up hui for Mā te Haumaru o ngā puna wai o Rākaihautū online & at the Wairewa tari, following the postponement of the previous date.

This kaupapa brings together climate science and mātauranga Māori to better understand flood risk and strengthen water resilience in our takiwā - protecting our wai, our taonga species, and out future.
Wharenui Photos
Tēnā koutou e te whānau,
As part of the preparations for painting the inside of Mako (13th-16th April), we will be taking down the photos of our loved ones from the walls on Saturday 11th April.
We know these photos hold deep meaning for many of our whānau, so we wanted to open up the opportunity for any whānau who would like to be present during this process.
The photos will be carefully stored and returned once painting is complete.

Kaumātua Reconnection Weekend
Reconnection Weekend - Friday 20th March-Sunday 22nd March
Another weekend to reconnect with whānau and the whenua! Saturday you'll be tiki touring around the takiwā visiting significant sites with other Irakehu kaumātua! So make sure you pack good shoes!

Te Rōpūake Redevelopment Hui
This hui will help ensure everyone feels fully informed ahead of any decision or motion to approve at the February Rūnanga hui.

Ngāi Tahu Holdings Dinner
As part of maintaining strong relationships with our whānau, Ngāi Tahu Holdings are visiting each of our Papatipu Rūnanga to share updates and insights on how our businesses are going and to listen to whānau feedback. Wairewa will be hosting a dinner for Warwick Tauwhare George (the Chair of Ngāi Tahu Holdings) and Todd Moyle (the CE of Ngāi Tahu Holdings). This is a relaxed event that will be focused on building our understanding and awareness about Ngāi Tahu Holdings.
