Another weekend to reconnect with whānau and the whenua! Saturday you'll be tiki touring around the takiwā visiting significant sites with other Irakehu kaumātua! So make sure you pack good shoes!

Get ready! It’s time for some friendly competition, heaps of laughs, and all-around good vibes at our Wairewa Games Day!

Come along for a fun filled day of relays, challenges, and team games for all ages - from tamariki to kaumātua! Bring the energy, whanaungatanga, and team spirit (plus your loudest cheer voice). There’ll be kai, prizes, and plenty of laughs, so bring the whānau and let’s make it an unforgettable way to start the new year on our whenua!
Te Rōpūake Redevelopment Hui
This hui will help ensure everyone feels fully informed ahead of any decision or motion to approve at the February Rūnanga hui.
Constitution Hui
We’re hosting two hui to kōrero through our Wairewa Constitution. These sessions are an opportunity for whānau to learn more, ask questions, and share your whakaaro. All whānau are welcome — come along and be part of shaping our future.

Ngāi Tahu Holdings Dinner
As part of maintaining strong relationships with our whānau, Ngāi Tahu Holdings are visiting each of our Papatipu Rūnanga to share updates and insights on how our businesses are going and to listen to whānau feedback. Wairewa will be hosting a dinner for Warwick Tauwhare George (the Chair of Ngāi Tahu Holdings) and Todd Moyle (the CE of Ngāi Tahu Holdings). This is a relaxed event that will be focused on building our understanding and awareness about Ngāi Tahu Holdings.

We’re inviting Wairewa kaumātua aged 60+ to our Kaumātua Reconnection Weekend at Wairewa marae 19th - 21st September!
Friday 19th September: kōrero, connection, pūrākau
Saturday 20th September: planting with Tautoru Mautai & games in the evening
Sunday 21st September: brunch, tidy up and reflections
The van will be leaving Whare Noi (501 Tuam Street) at 3pm Friday, or meet at Wairewa Marae at 4.30pm.

Director elections Meeting to appoint three directors to Wairewa Limited
The Executive of Wairewa Rūnanga Incorporated Society wishes to provide its members with notice of a Director Elections Meeting to be held on Wednesday 27th August 2025, 6.00pm at the Wairewa Office - 501 Tuam Street, Christchurch.
Nominations for this appointment are called for and close at 4pm Thursday 21st August 2025.
All nominations must be made in writing and the nominees must:
Be a Full Member and 18 years of age and over;
Have attended at least four rūnanga meetings over the past 12 months prior to the meeting held on Sunday 29th June 2025

Ahurea Tuku Iho Wānanga
Join us at Wairewa Marae for a Cultural Heritage Wānanga as we kōrero about our special wāhi taoka at Te Kaio.
Over the past few months, storms have impacted the site, and archaeologists, experts, and whānau are coming together to discuss the history, the taoka, and the future of Te Kaio.
There’ll be presentations from archaeologists, curators and cultural heritage experts, and a chance to see taoka and materials brought from Otago.
This is a special opportunity for whānau to connect, share whakaaro, and help guide our next steps for wāhi taoka.
